Who is afraid of the dark?

The dark basement always filled me with a sense of overwhelming angst. The haunted house kept me on edge, my heart racing in anticipation. As the sun quickly set while I navigated an unfamiliar hiking trail, I felt my pace quicken. The darkness of the house during a power outage left me feeling isolated.

There is something about the dark that we all understand on some level. It captures our attention, and it's something we often want to avoid.

That's why Jesus' words are life-giving and filled with strength. Why? Because we recognize that there is a darkness lurking within all of us, and we know where it can lead. Jesus' promise is a source of hope. All we have to do is follow Him, and His light will dispel the darkness.
